What's For Dinner?

If you are like me, I really ache over what I'm cooking for dinner.
I get bored cooking the same thing so I am constantly on the hunt for new recipe's.
I nailed it last night so I thought I should share this one with you. The source of this one is from goop so of course it's going to be delicious and healthy...what else would you expect from Gwen?

I promise this one will make you feel that you deserve a show on the cooking channel and you should probably compete on Iron Chef.

So go get some eggplant and have a great weekend!

Bedroom Inspiration

One of my finds at the flea market was this amazing framed print:

She was going in my upcoming sale in July but my daughter saw it and claimed it hers. I was secretly thrilled because she never likes anything I bring home.
She has been jones'n for an apartment next semester and wants this to be her inspiration for her bedroom.
This plan is fine with us because between dorm and meal plan, we are about to be broke.

So we played around with color's and a concept and here is what we came up with:

Obviously this entire room will be resourced from Goodwill, flea markets, and junk shops but I am definitely up for the challenge.
I'm thrilled she is finally embracing the idea of designing a room around a vintage item and that a piece of art speaks to her.
I knew my DNA was in there somewhere.

Flea Market Weekend

This flea market weekend was soooo good!

First of all the weather was sexy....like you never wanted to be inside sexy.

Second my favorite cousin in the entire world came to visit.

Third...there was amazing finds everywhere you turned.

Here are the highlights of my experience:

And this my friends came home with me...along with a few other things that will be for sale in July!

Yes,  the second annual sale will take place in July along with my partner in crime Brandy.

Besides some serious power shopping, Emily and I gave my cousin a makeover in the kitchen Friday night.

Then the rest of the weekend went like this:

Now time to get my inventory ready for you to take home.

A Tale Of 2 Tables

You know how certain things in your life keep appearing? Not like wrinkles or cellulite but like pieces of furniture.
For about a year I have seen these 2 lucite and, unfortunately, painted brass plated tables. They were priced fine but who wants to deal with removing white paint off of brass?
Well the other day the shop owner must have had some kind of mental breakdown c/o said tables because there they were sitting outside of the store, which was closed, with a sign that said "free to a good home".

I grabbed those and ran. I will deal with the problem...what do I have to lose?

This is the side table, I also have a coffee table with a mirrored top. Who would paint this?

So I started removing paint like a peeling sunburn...

So now I have uncovered the brass but have scratched it up like nobody's business.

So I decide that gold leafing the scratched up brass is the answer. I love the look and found inspiration.

Chelsea Set of 3 Tables - Gold 18” h x 45” w x 20” d 3-piece gold leaf table set with mirrored tops. Small tables are 15.25“h x 16“w x 16“d. stock #: CHELSEA G
You get the idea. So I found a product called liquid leaf at Walmart for $4.99
And started painting.

This pic doesn't do this product justice and they will probably tell me to delete this post but trust me I am happy!

And for now we have a great solution to our coffee table dilemma

Coffee Table Shopping Begins

Since I have purchased a low and lean mid century sofa...my coffee table now sucks.

So we went coffee table shopping recently at some of our favorite junk shops...didn't find "the one" but did see some amazing things:

The hunt continues...

Random Act Of Kindness

So I am sitting in my living room glued to the chair watching CNN report about these poor women that had been kidnapped and are now free and have all these emotions running through me when I get a text from my childhood bff:

I am the luckiest girl in the world and feel much better.

So today please preform some random act of kindness...it could change someone's day.

Bye Bye 90's...Hello 50's

We have been lugging around a massive overstuffed sofa for many years. You know the one...they are all over Craigslist and sadly still in some major furniture chains that will remain unnamed.

So last week as I was cruising/stalking Craigslist, I find what I think is "the one"...the replacement!

It was posted that morning, price was amazing, so I knew I had to act fast.

I showed it to my husband and he liked it so I emailed and within the hour I was standing in a man's garage staring at it. I panicked because knowing how CL works, you have to pull the trigger because if you walk away, the next guy will be there soon.

I wrote the check and hoped I had made the right decision.

Meet my new sofa

all 91" of mid century goodness

Now this has led to shopping for a new coffee table...it never ends.

Wondering What I Found?

Sorry it has taken so long to post flea market and art show pics but the ya ya mom had a laundry list of needs and wants this week, so guess what?...she has ruled my week.

First ... Flea Market

It was a great one. April is always stellar and this one did not disappoint.

This is on Craig's List right now for $450.00!

What made it home?

Fiberglass spun side table
Peacock glitter art

Now for the Birmingham art show.

These were the things I lusted after

But sadly the only thing I bought was a Popsicle.
