Mrs. Roper wore them...why can't I?

I always thought Mrs. Roper was a fantastic role mode. Not only did she look stylish but she could party with the best of them. I wish wearing a caftan everyday was acceptable. Not only are they amazing but are perfect on days when you feel like a fat whale.
Here is the other one that own. I bought it at the Nashville Flea Market and it is one of my favorite things:
