Oversized Art

I was making the rounds in my local thrift shops and this is hanging on the wall:

I was instantly in love.

The price is not exactly in my budget but I am hoping it will be a tough sell around here, conservativeville, and they will reduce it.

It is also very large...which is why I like it but it would take the right space...like these:

So I am going to continue to stalk this certain thrift store that will remain nameless and hope that the price gets slashed...either that or we just don't eat that week.

Flea Market Weekend Recap

It has been an INSANE several days around here.

My husband and I hosted a small company get together which included a meeting, dinner and sightseeing.

I was determined for everyone to sit at one table instead of people fixing a plate and squatting wherever.

The only solution is to go outside. The weather hasn't been brutal here yet, but I hate to sweat and eat so this was a crap shoot.

It worked out thanks to my husband buying a fan that I think NFL football teams use on the sidelines.

The following day was sightseeing day and I mentioned to the ladies that it was flea market weekend and they were in....even the men went.
These are the greatest group of people ever.

Here are some pics of my favorite things:

As you can tell this was a stellar flea market.

What did I buy?

Well, since we were all crammed in 2 cars, space was compromised but I did manage to "slip" something in.

This is a signed and numbered piece of art by Rina Rotholz.

Ms. Rotholz was born in 1928 in Israel. She is known for "tuilegraphs" (tile-writing) which are linoleum block prints. Her works depict Jewish and Near- Eastern subjects. She uses foils, metallic inks, and watercolor to give her works their strength and authenticity.

This is getting framed and matted asap!

After sweating a gallon or so at the fair grounds, we all showered, separately, and met up on Broadway for some honky tonkin...no pics taken cuz what happens in Nashville, stays in Nashville.

I May Become A Stalker

I was blog surfing recently and opened up The Selby to read his post and I think I may have found my new best friend.
How convenient that she happens to live here in Nashville.

Meet my new BFF Linda Callaway

                                                     How interesting is this chick?
My goal is to have that many stranger portraits in my home!

I would be fine just hanging out in her closet all day.

I want to shop where she does.

I want to create vignettes like this one.

So get ready Linda...I will find you and make you love me.

To Paint Or Not To Paint

Isn't that always the question?

I have to tell you, every time I go to the flea market and I see a bunch of painted furniture, I want to vomit.

I'm tired of it and there is a beauty to wood...but I love color. I can't help it.

This buffet has been with us for a long time. Like as long as we have been married and that is like forever.

Every time I look at it I see it painted teal. Like deep dark teal.

But I don't know if that's the answer. I feel like she needs a lifestyle lift like her mom does...you know just a tweak.

HGTV Star Thought

We all think we are decorators and could do this show with our eyes closed, but if someone gave me a white square and said " do it...now!" I would freak the **** out.

I'm not going to break them all down, but a few stood out for one reason or another.

 This was a lot.

Like edit edit and then edit some more.

Why the word BE on the wall...I don't get it.

Liked the wallpaper and light fixtures but everything else is stupid and I don't trust this guy for a second.

This room is at least interesting and love the wallpaper...rug is to small. His room was my fave.

This was a sad room that looks like it was done by a 14 yr. old.

Love him and his branding. Art was sad but I couldn't do any better.

Like the concept...just needs to edit...to many vases.

So that's it. I'm looking forward to this season...there isn't anything else to watch.

I'm In Awe

Our vision for the front of our house has finally come to fruition!

The awning has been installed and we couldn't be more pleased

Is it silly to be in awe of an awning?

I don't think so.

Kaftan's Solve All Kinds Of Issue's

I have many issue's.
One being that I am at the beginning stages of menopause so I sweat basically on command, and
I was diagnosed with scoliosis at age 13 and  had surgery, so my back looks like Quasimodo on a good day.

Clothes have always been an issue for me and dresses seem to be the most forgiving which is why the kaftan solves all kinds of problems.

 Elin Östman

I am obsessed with this look!
This feels easy and relaxed but still so super cool.

So I have been on the hunt for the perfect kaftan for me.

 perfect kaftan

braid, and kaftan

Rachel Comey SS13 white windowpane kaftan, yes please
