A Tale Of 2 Tables

You know how certain things in your life keep appearing? Not like wrinkles or cellulite but like pieces of furniture.
For about a year I have seen these 2 lucite and, unfortunately, painted brass plated tables. They were priced fine but who wants to deal with removing white paint off of brass?
Well the other day the shop owner must have had some kind of mental breakdown c/o said tables because there they were sitting outside of the store, which was closed, with a sign that said "free to a good home".

I grabbed those and ran. I will deal with the problem...what do I have to lose?

This is the side table, I also have a coffee table with a mirrored top. Who would paint this?

So I started removing paint like a peeling sunburn...

So now I have uncovered the brass but have scratched it up like nobody's business.

So I decide that gold leafing the scratched up brass is the answer. I love the look and found inspiration.

You get the idea. So I found a product called liquid leaf at Walmart for $4.99
And started painting.

This pic doesn't do this product justice and they will probably tell me to delete this post but trust me I am happy!

And for now we have a great solution to our coffee table dilemma

  3. Free?? And yes, who in their right minds paints brass (or brass plate even) white?? Crazy people. Great job and it looks perfect. Now, what store was this that closed?

  5. Get this.. I have the matching table base for a dining room table! I fell in love with the lucite and brass combo and thought it would look smashing with a nice marble top on it. The brass plate on mine is peeling a little but is in good enough condition for now. Can I hit you up for pointers if I ever decide to paint it? :)
