To Paint Or Not To Paint

Isn't that always the question?

I have to tell you, every time I go to the flea market and I see a bunch of painted furniture, I want to vomit.

I'm tired of it and there is a beauty to wood...but I love color. I can't help it.

This buffet has been with us for a long time. Like as long as we have been married and that is like forever.

Every time I look at it I see it painted teal. Like deep dark teal.

But I don't know if that's the answer. I feel like she needs a lifestyle lift like her mom does...you know just a tweak.

  1. I know what you mean about all the painted furniture and all the "shabby" treatments. Blech. But you know this would be beautiful. However, I love real wood sometimes too. I think if there's a good mix in a room, it's nice to have a painted piece. I actually limed my grandmother's buffet. Not sure it looks fabulous, but it changed it up a little.

  2. My vote is to leave it wood and change the wall color.

  3. OMG, I'm so glad someone shares my gag reflex towards distressed painted furniture. The whole chalk paint trend makes me want to cry. Painting this buffet in a nice glossy teal, though, is a whole different story. I actually think it would be amazing!

  4. If its not too late, step away from the paint can! Don't let those evil Annie Sloan worshippers sway you. I swear, there isn't going to be single piece of classic furniture left unpainted in all of Nashville if we don't take a stand!
